Delete remnants of lavasoft Ad-Aware.  Adaware appears in add or remove programs but has no remove button to click on.
I am trying to install Trend Micro Titanium, but it ll not ina becs tects vasoft Ad-Aware software, and says it is incompatable. I have searched all programs, search hidden files and folders, and Add or Remove programs. It shows up nowhere except in the Add or Remove Programs where it shows the name ( Add-Aware) and used rarely, but there is no remove button, and right or left clicks have no effect. 1 person needs an answerI do too

I'll guess!...but it will not install because it detects Lavasoft Ad-Aware software...Do, or do not. There is no try.I decided to save up points for a new puppy instead of a pony!

I speak 5 languages and translate French poetry into Russian in my spare time, so translation is second nature for me.I am also a Trend Micro Certified Expert, but I don't even use their stuff. Some AV programs have gotten so complicated, they are best uninstalled with their own special uninstaller downloaded from the manufacturers web site... not from Add/Remove Programs.I don't have an uninstaller for Lavasoft, but somebody else might know about one, or you can read this link:http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=19042Failing that, I would give Revo Uninstaller a whirl. If you don't like Revo Uninstaller, uninstall it when you are done with it. It is almost capable of uninstalling itself!http://www.revouninstaller.com/ Do, or do not. You are correct, revo will uninstall itself, but it will not uninstall this! I believe that this is an empty folder, and is seen as a title, that is recognized by Trend Micro, but the uninstallers don't work on empty folders, nor does add or remove.

Well, it doesn't really sound like you have an XP problem. The problem is that Lavasoft did not uninstall properly/completely.You can look in the Lavasoft forums to and describe your issue there - you uninstalled it, but it is still showing up in Add/Remove Programs. The second problem is that Trend Micro doesn't seem to want to install when there is a competitor product installed. The Trend Micro folks may have a way to install their product while a competitor product is installed, but that would leave you with a Lavasoft entry in Add/Remove Programs you don't want/need (that would be annoying).Did Lavasoft show up as an installed program with Revo?If you know what triggers Trend Micro to think a competiro product is installed (where does it look?), then you could perhaps remove that.I know how to manipulate what shows up in Add/Remove Programs from partial uninstalls and remove items from the Add/Remove Programs list, but that may not be enough to satisfy the Trend Micro install.Another thought is to reinstall Lavasoft, reboot and then use the Lavasoft uninstall instructions to see if it will remove completely.Perhaps somebody else will have some other ideas. Do, or do not. There is no try.I decided to save up points for a new puppy instead of a pony!

I've found bits and remnants of just about every thing that I've ever uninstalled over the years on various computers, so there's a couple of things that I do now after uninstall that seem to work.1. Do a search on the hard drive for folders / files related to the software (in your case Ad-Aware and Lavasoft) and delete them.2. Do the same in your Registry using regedit (Start>Run...type in regedit). For example, I recently uninstalled Skype as I was on a "witch-hunt" trying to figure out why my hard drive had become so noisy. After the uninstall I still found remnants of the software on my C drive and in the Registry.
